Summary
On a late summer night in 1920, near Withee, Wisconsin, Caroline Krueger penned a letter from home to her eldest son Frank, who was in prison. It was the first of many such letters to Frank whose situation stemmed from a September night near the end of World War I. The Wisconsin Krueger family farm was attacked and shot up by lawmen and neighbors. One man died, several were injured and 2 of the four Krueger brothers, Frank being one of them, suffered life imprisonment. The youngest brother disappeared. Nearly a hundred years later, with excerpts from a collection of several hundred letters exchanged by the Krueger family this story is being told
